Our brother enjoyed his short life; he was always looking for ways to make someone laugh. His jokes and pranks were many, but, they never hurt anyone or anything.  He loved classical music and baking (as long as the recipe called for yeast!).  When the Viet Nam war escalated and he received his “invitation” from Uncle Sam, he did not run and hide in another country.  He could have, because he never was able to kill any living thing and the thought of shooting a person was something he could not fathom.   Rather, he enlisted in the Navy and became a medic—this way he could help SAVE lives, rather than kill lives.  In fact, he was helping to save the life of a fellow soldier when he was hit with the fatal bullet.  That soldier lives on today, what a gift Dan gave!  We shall forever remember Dan’s zest for life; he did not waste his time here on earth.

Dan was posthumously awarded the following medals:

1.  Gallantry Cross w/Palm

2.  Military Merit

3.  National Defense Service

4.  Purple Heart

5.  Silver Star

6.  Vietnam Service
